About Christa
I grew up in a small town in Ontario and at 18 was drawn to one of Canada’s top fashion cities - Toronto to be at the heart of the industry and never left. I studied Fashion Design & Management and interned with fashion designers, worked in retail management and dabbled in many other facets of the industry always looking for something that felt "right".

What inspired you to start your business?
I always loved my height and never found fashion to be something that was a challenge, to me it was just fun to go shopping and get dressed up. When I realized that many of my petite friends and family were frustrated with finding clothes that fit I start to explore the petite market. I started taking people shopping and realized that I wanted to share my tips with thousands of women and at the same time celebrate our petite stature. As soon as I got wind of what a blog was I was running to the computer and from that day I never stopped. Everything I've done with PF has been self taught and I've loved every minute of building my own mini empire!

What challenges have you faced?
When I took the leap of doing PetiteFashionista.com full time and relying solely on it as my primary income I had to make a few adjustments in my lifestyle and become more disciplined since I was now my own boss. I got the hand of being disciplined as I've always had a great drive and work ethic, but I knew I wasn't about to give up living fabulously...

What did you do to overcome those challenges?
I overcame the challenge of wanting to live like a star on a student budget by a little thing called barter. I didn't want to give up my weekly visit to the salon, so I traded my favorite salon an ad on my sidebar for weekly blowouts and monthly color. Also, I rarely have to buy clothing as samples are sent all the time, of course sometimes there's a little encouragement on my part - wink wink.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
2 words - just ask!
Just ask for what you want and you'll be surprised by what you can get!
